It is important to have an emergency kit with us and at home because when accidents happen, first aid treatment can be given immediately if we are always prepared and the emergency kit is always available. But before giving a first aid treatment to any person involved in an accident, assessment is very important because it will give us sign what the person needs at the moment or during the time of accident.

What are the things needed when assessing an emergency?

The kit should contain all basic survival supplies to aid the ill person for the first 72 hours while waiting for a medical rescue team. This kit should contain at least two pouches filled with 25oz of water, a flashlight with full batteries, an emergency book of First aid treatment that contains emergency instructions, over the counter pain reliever tablets, two low calorie chocolate bars, and water purification pills.

It is also wise to have a mini-radio with batteries for communication purposes, a survival sleeping bag, Respirator dust mask, pocket tissues, wet wipes, bandages, hypoallergenic plaster, gauze pads, antiseptic solution, burn ointment, and an alcohol or any antiseptic solution. After the assessment, you are ready to help the person involved in the accident. Some may not be serious but they still need a first aid treatment. Don’t forget to call for an emergency help with your mini radio included in the emergency kit and inform the rescue team about your exact location and the nature of the accident.
